The backbone of any quality acoustic guitar range and a go to choice for pro players from all walks of life over many decades, the humble Dreadnought is surely the king of the acoustic guitar world. This fine example displays the very highest standards of skill and finishing, and has been hand made in a respected UK small scale traditional workshop. This Atkin D37 benefits from have a Torrified Sitka Spruce top with a back and sides using the ever popular choice of East Indian Rosewood. We asked Alister Atkin to build this D37 Dreadnought in his much requested Aged Finish, which perfectly replicates the look and feel of a well loved golden era instrument that has spent most of its life in its case but also has some tasteful ageing with matching hardware. Features include period 1-11/16 nut size with standard 25.5" scale and Torrified top. The Torrification process subtly treats the spruce to provide an pre aged vintage character from new.

Read on to hear more about the back story to this guitars development and history - The Atkin D37 Dreadnought is based on the classic pre-war models of the 1930s. Atkins have been building and repairing this style of guitar longer than any other and, as with the J-45, every vintage example they have worked on has taught Atkins something different. With its deep body and scalloped braces, the Atkin Dreadnought puts out an incredibly strong, full sound. It’s one of the biggest sounding guitars we (or anyone else) makes and it really stands out when you’re playing alongside other instruments, live or in the studio.
