Atkin OM37, Aged Finish

Regraded by many players as the ultimate all rounder this Orchestral body Atkins OM37 has much to offer any style of player. With 16" radius Ebony fingerboard and 1-11/16 nut size this 25.4" scale Atkin OM37 has been meticulously crafted over many months in a small UK workshop. Offering excellent string to string balance and a clear sweet voice packed with character that will appeal to finger style players and flat pickers alike. Something of a jack of all trades design, a hand made OM offers breath-taking tone and provides a more ergonomic and comfortable playing experience that responds well to the lightest of touches. This particular Atkin OM37 features some excellent woods that include a Torrified Sitka Spruce top and that golden era favourite of Indian rosewood in the back and sides. We asked Alister to build this OM37 with his much admired and very tasteful Aged Finish option. Its a simply stunning guitar and is a real delight to hear and play.

This is what Alister Atkin has to say about the history and development of this sweet and clear sumptuous OM37 guitar - The OM, or “Orchestra Model” combines a full scale length with a slightly scaled down body – it is narrower and shallower than a “D” style guitar like our White Rice or Essential D. The challenge for all OM builders is to allow for a rich, commanding bass in spite of the the smaller, more ergonomic body, and our hand-scalloped bracing and torrified select Sitka top allows us to make this a reality. We’ve departed in several ways from the classic pre-war style: A larger top dome, our lifetime-guaranteed neck/body joint, and a two-way truss rod are among the changes, so this isn’t a historical reproduction, but a modern British-made guitar with heaps of mojo!
