Gretsch G6136T BLK Players Edition Falcon Small Mark

Gretsch G6136T-BLK Player's Edition Falcon with String-thru Bigsby - This particular version has a few tiny marks on its back. These marks do not at all detract from the instruments look and performance and are hard to spot. We would be happy to provide more images and information on request.

This incredibly attractive Gretsch G6136T Players Edition Black Falcon guitars features a hollow body classic design with String-Thru Bigsby trem. This Pro Series model offers all the classic Falcon elements in a stealthy finish. Iconic style and richly robust Gretsch tone cuts through a dense onstage mix, ensuring you’ll stand out from the pack, both sonically and visually. The epitome of style, this elegant instrument sings out loud and proud with every touch of the strings. A pair of High Sensitive Filter’Tron humbucking pickups  combine with a carefully crafted laminated maple body, providing pristine highs, glassy mids, stout lows and balanced harmonics for tone that blends well with other instruments, while retaining its unique voice. The control complement— separate bridge and neck volume controls, three-way pickup switching, No Load master tone and master volume—allows for infinite tonal variations. Gretsch “Squeezebox” paper-in-oil caps add smooth vintage tone while the treble bleed circuit lets your guitar retain all of its tasty clarity when rolling the volume control down. A 12”-radius ebony fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and striking pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays tops a maple neck with a comfortably familiar standard “U”-shaped profile for fluidly easy playing. The innovative Gretsch “ML” bracing is specifically voiced for this guitar, and delivers increased projection and airy openness from the thinner 2.25” body. A highly expressive Bigsby B6GP vibrato tailpiece and pinned “rocking” bar bridge combine with the GraphTech Tusq XL nut for stable tuning. In a uniquely Gretsch touch, the Bigsby tailpiece is now string-through, making it quicker (and easier) to change strings as well as providing increased vibration transfer for enhanced sustain.

Ok first, service by Project was fantastic, highly recommended thank you. The guitar is as good as I could have hoped for. Everything you've heard on a record is there to hear first hand. Cliche's like chime and twang are absolutely true. I spent the first afternoon pulling out every tune I knew that was recorded on a Gretsch and it sounded beautiful. The guitar feels like you've owned it for years right out of the box. The action was lower and much quicker than I expected to find on a hollowbody. I've never played a traditional Gretsch before so I can't compare the new appointments on the player's edition models to the old. I suppose one day I will actually play with the pick up volumes and the tone knob but today I just left everything wide open for the sheer enjoyment of it. Fret access north of the 14th / 15th fret is tough if you have big hands / fingers like me but to be honest that is not what this guitar is for and I'm not a shredder by any stretch. Chords absolutely ring out both clean and distorted. Riffing on this thing will make you smile - guaranteed. I ran it through my recording rig (Johnson J-Station / AW4416 / E-mu 1820m) with no problems. Then I went into my live rig (J station / Keeley Compresor +, and some other pedals into a Laney TF200). I had the volume up to probably an unsociable amount and didn't get much feedback. I was expecting lots but that might be a different story when you approach stage volume. I can't say enough good things about this guitar. Sure it looks beautiful but it is all about the sound and the way it plays. I have some decent guitars (Gibson LPC '94, Fender Start Ultra '97) the Gretsch Players Edition Black Falcon, as you would expect, takes a back seat to no one. Try one, (fair warning - they cost a bomb) you'll be hooked.
